Havekost scanned the picture, manipulated its colours using photo editing software, and then used the resulting images as references from which to paint the scene by hand using a brush and a spray gun. Sometimes Eberhard Havekost’s paintings also look as if they have materialized on 45 x 80 centimeter canvases after months, years even, of data transmission through space.
